The 1.2 mm/yr is essentially the same as the NOAA 2005-2012 sea level budget rate of 1.1.-1.3 mm/yr.MShttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06714540297202434542noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4142988674703954802.post-92196041813074174862013-10-31T01:31:08.319-07:002013-10-31T01:31:08.319-07:00Thanks for reposting my comment.

These two researchers carefully selected around 500 or so of the over 1200 tide gauges in the PSMSL. At this link
http://www.cmar.csiro.au/sealevel/sl_data_cmar.html
You can find a list of the tide gauges they used here
ftp://ftp.marine.csiro.au/pub/white/church_white_gmsl_2011_tg_list.zip
(zipfile, 21,008 bytes)

If you compare the 500 gauges used against the 700 tide gauges discarded, I did it on 30° grids, you will find that the Church and White selected data yields a rate of sea level rise of 2.4 mm/yr and the discarded data results in 1.2 mm/yr. Here's a graph
http://oi49.tinypic.com/ab78d5.jpg
of that comparison that I made some time ago. Church & White go on to somehow adjust the data to match the 3.2 mm/yr reported by Colorado University.

Steve Casehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06373421434514589060noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4142988674703954802.post-67078389669606235802013-10-30T16:22:57.226-07:002013-10-30T16:22:57.226-07:00I like it - will add to the climate science dictio...I like it - will add to the climate science dictionaryMShttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06714540297202434542noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4142988674703954802.post-14423086357718906062013-10-30T16:12:14.091-07:002013-10-30T16:12:14.091-07:00The word is "Upjusted"The word is "Upjusted"Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
