The amount of energy output is. Indeed , so “activity” probably needs to be integrated in some fashion to get energy. Simply integrating some measure of activity over all time would not be reasonable since as the Earth warms or cools in response to a changing input there will be tendency to return once the perturbation ends. If climate has linear relaxation response to such perturbations the Laplace response will be convolution with a decaying exponential. That is basically a weighted integration. As an illustration SSN is integrated with 20 year time constant response and compared to low-pass filtered SST.

http://climategrog.wordpress.com/?attachment_id=752MShttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06714540297202434542noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4142988674703954802.post-73977516338450222842014-01-05T15:08:25.654-08:002014-01-05T15:08:25.654-08:00plot for yourself at WoodforTrees:

That prediction is quite comparable to IPCC’s estimate of global average surface temperature smoothed with a 30-year filter, the nominal minimum climate span. The fact that the solar cycles from 1933-1996 were the strongest 63-year string of solar cycles in 11,400 years also supports the premise that the Sun is the driver of climate. Furthermore, the fact that the global warming trend ended the same year these strong solar cycles ended in 1996, is further support of solar induced climate change.

Moreover, Lockwood’s recent findings that solar activity over the past 20+ years is dropping at the fastest pace in 10,000 years, corresponds perfectly to falling global trends since 1997 (RSS) and 2001 (HADCRUT4).

Research by Penn & Livingston, and Lockwood suggest a high probability that the Sun could enter another Grand Solar Minimum from the next solar cycle, which starts in 2020, suggesting the Modern Warming Period is in its final stages and that global cooling is on its way.

CAGW is dead.MShttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06714540297202434542noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4142988674703954802.post-81912297284448164772013-10-16T07:31:39.904-07:002013-10-16T07:31:39.904-07:00http://redneckphysics.blogspot.com/2013/10/solar-w...http://redneckphysics.blogspot.com/2013/10/solar-with-various-cumulative-lags.htmlAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4142988674703954802.post-79315548537476980332013-10-15T13:57:34.357-07:002013-10-15T13:57:34.357-07:00http://www.drroyspencer.com/2013/09/enso-and-pdo-e...http://www.drroyspencer.com/2013/09/enso-and-pdo-explain-tropical-average-ssts-during-1950-2013MShttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06714540297202434542noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4142988674703954802.post-55127970316074685222013-09-10T13:16:27.445-07:002013-09-10T13:16:27.445-07:00http://www.kaltesonne.de/?p=10194http://www.kaltesonne.de/?p=10194MShttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06714540297202434542noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4142988674703954802.post-58190523835987886082013-08-20T16:03:48.436-07:002013-08-20T16:03:48.436-07:00see also Dan Pangburn's post:
