Were historic land based temperatures before 1950 (and no doubt for decades later) measured to 1/100th degree accuracy? Of course not. They were usually recorded to the nearest whole degree with a margin of error of at least +/- 0.5F or C depending on the accuracy of the thermometer and the person reading the temperature. Added to this the fact that large areas of the earth have no surface temperature measurement makes a complete mockery of a global average temperature and the claim that a year is the "warmest on record". Then there is the endless adjustments that have been made to historic temeprature data for often unexplained reasons. Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
