Arctic Sea Ice Extent Highest in 6 Years

The antarctic sea ice anomaly is also above the 1979-2008 mean:

  1. Please note that DMI reports ice extent at 30% concentration as opposed to 15% concentration as AMSR-E reports.

    So the interesting thing here is that the ice this year is more consolidated than in recent years and according to DMI, current temperatures in the Arctic are still below normal for this time of year. This is the time of year when temperatures begin to increase in the Arctic, currently they are still declining.

    All indications currently point to continued recovery of Arctic ice this year.
